Verify Your Vaccination with SMART Health Cards

We’re happy to introduce a way of verifying your vaccination status before getting to Gate! You can do this by visiting the Ticketing and Volunteering Portal and uploading your SMART Health Card in the new “COVID-19 Safety Requirements” section. The process should take under 5 minutes and will save time verifying your status at Gate. Find the link directly on your Ticketing dashboard:

If you don’t upload your SMART Health Card: Please bring physical proof of vaccination to Gate, either your original card or a photocopy. Using a copy on your phone will complicate & slow down Gate operations, as well as forcing you to unlock your phone and hand it over to the Security team while you sit in your car.

Unvaccinated participants: You must bring a physical copy of a negative COVID PCR test taken less than 72 hours prior to your arrival, as well as enough rapid tests for daily testing. This requirement is unchanged. Again, if you only have a copy on your phone, you will need to unlock your phone and hand it over to the Security team while you sit in your car.

Conduct Committee Hiatus Dates

The Firefly Arts Collective Conduct Committee will be on its annual hiatus from June 15th until July 18th.

The Firefly Incident Report Form is always available, including during the hiatus, but those reports will not be investigated until after July 18th, 2022.

For concerns and emergencies during hiatus, please email the Firefly Arts Collective Board of Directors: board@fireflyartscollective.org.

While on site during the Firefly 2022 event please bring current or ongoing concerns to Rangers or other Safety volunteers.  If you wish to report a sensitive matter for the Firefly organization to act on, ask a Ranger to connect you to the Board Member on call.

After Firefly 2022, the Conduct Committee will be working to revisit how we want to approach the future and recruit new members to help that happen, look for announcements in July (or reach out to us now if you’re extra excited)!

Parking during Exodus Really Needs Help

Fireflies must really enjoy sitting in their car with people who haven’t bathed for hours in traffic jams! At least that’s the impression I get when I see that we have ONLY 5 volunteers so far for Parking during Exodus (we need 30 more!!).

In previous years, there’s been a lot of complaints about how hard leaving the event is, and not having Parking volunteers impacts that. Being short volunteers also overwhelms and over works the volunteers that do step up during Exodus and causes burn out. We had so many people step up in 2019, making it the smoothest Exodus ever. But if no one steps up this year, we won’t have that experience.

PERK: If you work an Exodus shift, you do not need to be off the land until 6 PM or, if shifts go late, 2 hours AFTER you get off your shift. Why rush to leave on Sunday, when instead, you can take your time and then help Exodus flow like room temperature butter?

Please help make Exodus go smoothly for your fellow participants! Go Here to Sign Up.

Contact exodus@fireflyartscollective.org with any questions.

Work Weekend #2 - aka Placement (for Theme Camps & Art)

We had a very successful and productive first Work Weekend, and hope to do just as well with the second! This is also when Theme Camps and Art get placed, so make sure to send a representative up there at least on Sunday, June 12th. Folks who come up will be expected to put in at least a couple of hours of work clearing general camp spots and trails and helping out with other tasks before they’re allowed to participate in placement which begins at 1PM on Sunday, so plan accordingly.

If you have not signed up yet, follow the link to the Work Weekend Sign-up (and Waiver).

Questions? Email workweekends@fireflyartscollective.org or placement@fireflyartscollective.org

The Return of POWERPOINT CLUB

Inspired by a Buzzfeed article, PowerPoint Club is an event where attendees give THREE MINUTE presentations on any topic they are passionate about. Three minutes is NOT a long time! It's super fun to try to convey everything you want in that amount of time, and nobody gets bored, unlike 99% of all PowerPoint presentations. It grasps your attention and is lots of fun. It's great for people who are afraid of public speaking because nobody expects it to be polished or anything.

Want to present? Sign up here: https://bit.ly/pptclubfirefly

WHEN/WHERE? Camp Lamp, 9pm Thursday night (June 30). Thanks to Lamp for hosting!

THE RULES

1: Presentations will be three minutes long, plus an additional two minutes for Q&A and anything else. We will keep to this schedule within one SECOND.

2: Presentations can be anything you are passionate about.

3: You must upload your PowerPoint at http://bit.ly/pptffupload no later than SUNDAY, JUNE 26 in either PPT or PDF format. Or you can use posterboard instead of PowerPoint. Or you can choose to have no materials at all and just talk at us.

4: You must sign up at https://bit.ly/pptclubfirefly to present. You don't need a topic yet. If we get more than 20 responses there will be a waitlist. We will also have some prior presentations on hand if you want to present someone else's slides which is usually hilarious fun.

Please direct questions to Frank at aethelwer@gmail.com. Thanks!

Art Truck

Do you need help getting your art from Camberville to the wonderful bug-filled woods of Firefly so the magic can happen? Well me (ArtiMiss) and Keco are here to help! We’re getting the biggest diesel truck with a liftgate that we can (26’), and will joyfully (and snarkily) help you pack your art as safely as we can in the VDA Parking Lot.

Load Up in Somerville:

  • Afternoon of Sunday June 26th

  • Early evening of June 27th. (We can’t do it late on the 27th, because we have to get up and drive early on the 28th! Driving tired is at least as dangerous as driving drunk. Also Keco and I need our beauty sleep to look as good as this! So, get there on time!)

Unload Firefly

  •  10:00AM Tuesday - Evening Wed

    • (please try to get your stuff by then! I want to go to the burn too!)

Load Up Firefly

  • Monday 4th - Morning Tuesday 5th

Unload in Somerville:

  • Afternoon/Evening of July 5th

We’ll send you details about timing and location the week before load up… Which means, Register For The Art Truck!  You’ll need your packed art dimensions, contact & rough arrival details for you and a second responsible person, and lastly some general knowledge about your piece. Please pack it in something if it’s fragile!

Please register for the art truck by June 19th!

NOTE: NO FLAMMABLES, CORROSIVES, OR COMPRESSED GAS PERMITTED ON BOARD THE ART TRUCK!

If you have questions, or special needs, contact me (artimiss@fireflyartscollective.org) and I’ll do my best to straighten them out.

Save the Bug!

Xoxo, ArtiMiss

Need Propane?

As you just read above - there is NO PROPANE ALLOWED ON THE ART TRUCK. If you would like to go in on a large propane delivery, read on. The order will be for #100 filled propane tanks which would be delivered to Lower Parking before the event and picked up there after the event - $100 per tank. Contact Randal Meraki by text 508-713-7776, FB messenger, email: theworcshop@gmail.com. Orders need to be confirmed by Friday, June 17th.
