1. Volunteer! As of this morning, 663 Ticket Holders have yet to Volunteer for Anything

We have lots of open volunteering spots! So many that it is a bit questionable whether we can even run the event. What? Does half of the event think this is some music festival with paid staff?

Exodus is becoming unprecedentedly long and complicated and is very clearly because of gaps in volunteer shifts. Some participants volunteer for 2, 3, or even 8 shifts — some shifts are 4 hours and some shifts 24 hours (e.g. first aid). Fill empty shifts and let's try to help those people out. Burnout is a real thing.

2. New Shifts Available

Ticketing has removed some of the people who are far down the wait list from holding volunteer shifts (sorry!) which opened up a bunch of spaces.

3. GLITCH: Check your midnight shifts and make sure you have correct day

We found a glitch where sign up for shifts that start between midnight and 5am were showing on *the wrong day*. We fixed the glitch

4. Exodus: Help Wanted, Flexibility Offered!

Hi all! Many cores – especially Parking and  Parking Shuttle – need more hands for Exodus! We ONLY have four volunteers so far for Parking during Exodus (we need 18 more).

This year we’re offering a great benefit: If you work an Exodus shift, you do not need to be off the land until 6 PM or, if shifts go late, 2 hours AFTER you get off your shift.

5. Ten Principles: Participation and Civic Responsibility

Firefly is run by the participants. If you have a ticket, that means you are a participant. Civic Responsibility is also an important part of our culture.

Volunteering to make the event run is a radical act of participation — every person you see at Firefly working as parking, Rangers, or even writing this email are unpaid volunteers who are actively participating in our Firefly Community.
