Asks & Offers
The Firefly Discord server is a great place to interact with the Firefly community. You can join here: https://discord.gg/KtUy8xHqTK
We will be offering a limited number of additional combined event + bus tickets (First Come, First Serve), which will go on sale Wednesday 6/28 at noon on the ticketing page, https://volunteer.fireflyartscollective.org/ . These tickets will be available to anyone currently on the waitlist.
For a $180 flat fee, you will be able to skip the waitlist to buy a combined event + bus ticket as long as supplies (bus seats) last - currently there are a few dozen. Important information to know:
Buses leave from Boston area at noon on Tuesday 7/4 and Wednesday 7/5.
Riders will be permitted one large suitcase, one carry-on size suitcase, and one day bag. Got more stuff? Read on and use the gear truck!
Buses will make a 30-minute stop in White River Junction, for riders to buy groceries/perishables.
If you do not receive your wristband ON THE BUS you will not be permitted entry. That is, if you buy this ticket you may not arrive at Firefly in any other way except the bus.
Note: this also means that if you are already ticketed for the event and plan to ride the bus, buy your ticket before Wednesday or they will sell out!
Any questions? Email transport@fireflyartscollective.org!
Are you interested in a share of space on the gear truck? Shares are still available! What you need to know:
Shares will cost $20 each for 10 cu.ft.
Load in: Medford from 11am Sunday 7/2 until sunset. The truck will arrive at the event Monday morning for EA.
Load out: Truck leaves the site late evening on Sunday 7/9. Load out happens in Medford all day Monday 7/10.
For more info and to buy shares, contact Char McFarland on Facebook or via email at grandmotherweb@gmail.com.
Ticketing sales - including event tickets, bus tickets, and parking passes - will end at 9 AM on Sunday July 2nd.
There will be no exceptions - those of us in charge of tickets need to finish packing, printing, and heading up to the woods and we won’t be looking at phones.
We have a very long waitlist. At this point, it is unlikely that people with high waitlist numbers will receive a ticket offer. If you have a ticket you won’t be using, please refund your ticket ASAP to give a waitlist participant a chance to attend!
Questions? Email tickets@fireflyartscollective.org
If this is your first Firefly, you will soon find out what a magical place these woods are and we want to work together to keep it that way through all our shenanigans. That is why regardless of volunteer shifts, everyone is on team LNT!
There is quite a bit of helpful info here, read it! Love it! Live it!
Everybody MOOPs!
It doesn’t matter if you are a veteran or new-fly, theme or solo camper, MOOP is everyone’s responsibility. MOOP is Matter Out Of Place, it happens to the best of us!
If you see a piece of MOOP, congratulations!
If you see it, pick it up: all day long you’ll have good luck!
We don’t do ‘ground scores’ at Firefly, bring lost personal items to the Lost and Found bin located at Upper Portos.
It’s a great idea to check this bin daily, often we don’t even realize what we’ve lost!
LNT pre-event:
Costuming:
Celebrate your style with shiny fabric, bold patterns and blinky stuff.
Leave the glitter, sequins and feathers at home.
Remove packaging / open new gear at home (or even in the store parking lot if need be)
Label your shit!
At the event:
Do daily MOOP sweeps, use a stick like a divining rod to push around leaves.
Waiting until the last day is sure to leave behind MOOP that has gotten buried.
Kitchen - fallen food is MOOP! Here is a recommendation for a dishwashing station:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1xaEzei1BQgO0-ThCCB6V_hxNZutadOyKcfVGw0uplQ0/edit
The Streams - both natural and from your body:
Wash off bug spray and other products before going in the stream.
Pee at least 50 feet away from the stream.
DON’T POOP IN THE WOODS!
DON’T POOP IN THE WOODS!
DON’T POOP IN THE WOODS!
Handle your shit, don’t make it someone else’s problem.
Don’t poop in the woods. Seriously, it is amazing this needs to be said.
If you need to poop in the woods, poop in a bag and then take it home.
Porto etiquette:
If it didn’t come out of your body or is not 1 ply TP, it doesn’t go in the potty!
No tampons, condoms, glow sticks, diapers, bags, headlamps, cellphones, hopes or dreams. These clog the honey sucker and make a shitty job shittier!
Sit your butt on the seat OR lift the seat to hover.
Put the lid down when you are done for best ventilation.
After the event:
Line sweeps are the most effective and efficient - work together!
Stand arms length from your co-sweepers and walk in a line. Stay together in that line!
Look up!
Look around!
See how beautiful this place is and offer thanks to the land for the honor to spend time here!.
Live ~ Laugh ~ Leave No Trace!
A few years ago, several of the Firefly theme camps with adult topics got together and produced a collection of "best practices" for adult camps. These include standard signs and safeguards that allow adult camps to be fully part of the event, in a way that works for everyone. We encourage everyone to review the document at <http://tinyurl.com/ffadult>.
