We have opened registration for Safety Third Getaway Weekend on May 15-17 in Scarborough, Maine to any Firefly that is interested in volunteering for a Firefly Safety Core.
What is Safety Third Weekend Getaway you ask?
It is a training/social weekend for Firefly Medical, Rangers, Sanctuary and FAST (Fire Art Safety Team) volunteers. TJ Kozma, Deanna Duffey and Rhonda Forester will be hosting for the second year in a row for Firefly volunteers.
The weekend is jam packed with goodness! A formal training for your Core, cross-trainings with the other Safety Cores and new training sessions for all Cores. We are introducing Incident Command System this year to be better prepared for incidents and emergencies.
Arrive anytime after 5pm on Friday or before training starts on Saturday at 9am.
Training on Saturday goes til 6pm.
Then social time and bonfire Saturday night- get to know members of all Safety Departments.
Sunday will be more training after breakfast with a Q&A session before putting our learning's to use in a mock scenario or two.
Its going to be an awesome opportunity to get involved, get trained and meet Safety Core Leads and volunteers.
There will be a small fee to attend of $25 this will go towards food for the weekend. Bring your own drinks.
The location will be at our house in Scarborough, Maine. 15 minutes south of Portland easily accessible by bus and train from Boston. We have plenty of inside meeting/sleeping space in the barn, carriage house and house if needed. We are hoping for some warmer weather, nice enough to be outside for those that want to camp out. Plenty of yard and forest space for camping and meeting. Bring yer tent!
Full Disclosure- This is not a party weekend. It is a weekend to learn, relax and socialize with fellow Safety Core volunteers.
