GLOWBE WEEK of 6/19

Contribute to the Sanctuary community shrine!

Sanctuary is a calm and serene place where Fireflies can come to ground themselves and to reconnect with their intentions for the event. This year, the Sanctuary team has picked the theme of community, and we ask for your help in creating a space where Fireflies can go to be surrounded by physical reminders of the love that we all have for one another by contributing to our community shrine.

You can participate in two ways:

  1. Bring an offering for the shrine! This offering can be any non-hazardous object that reminds you of a time when you have felt connected to Firefly and the community.  You can bring your offerings to Sanctuary during Firefly, or you can contact us before the event to arrange a dropoff in either Somerville or Bethel.

  2. E-submit a piece of text that resonates for you! We will bind these e-submissions into a zine that will be held at Sanctuary and distributed around Firefly. *** Digital submissions are due by midnight on Wednesday, June 28! ***

Work Weekend #3 (June 23-25)

We had an even more successful and productive second Work Weekend (despite all the rain on Saturday), and are well positioned to be able to check off all the remaining things this upcoming *third* Work Weekend!

If you have not signed up yet, follow the link to the Work Weekend Sign-up (and Waiver)

Parking & GTFO need more volunteers!

Parking & GTFO volunteers have the crucially important job of managing traffic so Early Arrival and Exodus run smoothly and as efficiently as they possibly can. Traffic slows down for everybody if Parking and GTFO volunteer shifts are not all filled.

PERK: If you work an Exodus shift, you do not need to be off the land until 6 PM (or, if shifts go late, until 2 hours after you get off shift). Why rush to leave on Sunday, when instead, you can take your time and help Exodus flow like room temperature coconut butter?

Questions? Email parking@fireflyartscollective.org, gtfo@fireflyartscollective.org

Reminder: Art Transportation Requests

Are you bringing art which you will need help getting up the hill? DPW is happy to offer assistance with Polarises and trailers. Fill out this Art Transport Request Form to let us know approximately when you would need the pickup, where from (Art Truck, Lower Parking, or Upper Parking) and provide some info about what you need transported. The request form will close on Tuesday, June 27th.

Questions? Email dpw@fireflyartscollective.org

Stay for Late Crew! (while spoons last)

Do you wish you could stay in the woods for just one more day before you have to rejoin the “default world”? You totally can! Each year DPW and LNT make sure the land is as near to “as we found it” as we can get - and we need all the help we can get from *YOU* to make it so. Please consider volunteering for a Late Crew shift and help us out. Many hands indeed do make light work. Follow the links to sign up for DPW and LNT.

GEAR TRUCK IS A GO!!

Shares will cost $20 each for 10 cu.ft. Last year we sold ~50 shares, and my personal gear was 1.5 shares.

Load in happens in Medford from 11am Sunday 7/2 until sunset.

Truck leaves Monday 7/3 around 11am and arrives on-site early that evening, barring roadblocks.

Truck leaves the site late evening on Sunday 7/9. GTFO on time!

Load out happens in Medford all day Monday 7/10. Gear will be staged in the driveway (if available) and in the fenced-in backyard.

Lost-and-found items will stay in the fenced-in yard until they can be picked up.

To buy a share or for any questions, email me at grandmotherweb@gmail.com, or send a message on Facebook to Char McFarland.
