Greetings Fireflies!

We are inching closer to the event in the woods. When do you even pack? Let us know! If you’re not even sure what to pack, check out this handy packing list!

According to last week’s poll, 65% of responding Fireflies pronounce this weekly missive like “The Globe”. Two respondents believe that the W and E are silent and it is pronounced “GLOB”.

Work Weekend #2 & Placement Deadline TOMORROW

Work weekend #1 was a great success! The Bug and Temple got their structures anchored firmly in the ground and and work has begun on the Ring Road project. And to reward a hard weekend’s work, some of the crew enjoyed fresh strawberries and radishes grown on the land.

Work Weekend #1 was so good, you probably should sign up for Work Weekend #2! Theme camp and art placement will happen on Sunday, June 16th. Apply by tomorrow, June 12th, to be included. Placement representatives and project leads will be receiving an email later after the 12th with the instructions for attending Placement.

Conduct Committee On-Hiatus: June 17th – July 22nd, 2024

Just a friendly reminder that the Firefly Arts Collective Conduct Committee will be on-hiatus for two weeks prior and post the Firefly event. During this time, you may submit a Firefly Incident Report Form (FIRF) and it will be reviewed when we resume operations. For concerns and emergencies, please email the Firefly Arts Collective Board of Directors: board@fireflyartscollective.org

How to Report at the Event:

While at the event if you need to report a sensitive matter: please see a Ranger at HQ who can escalate to the Event Officer of the Day (OOD) or the Board On-Call for further assistance. Of note, there will also be posters with a QR code to scan and submit a FIRF located at the Ranger HQ and the Coffee Station.

About Us and the Mission:

The Conduct Committee, established March 2015, is served by a dedicated group of Fireflies that have received specialized training, been vetted by the board of directors as well as the Firefly community, and have signed a confidentiality agreement in order to receive and investigate reports of misconduct in the Firefly community. Our mission is to protect our community from unsafe behavior and ensure the community’s ability to hold our annual Festival and other events. For more information please visit: Conduct Committee procedures, policies, and FAQ.

LNT Best Practices and Requests from Landowners

Think you know what LNT means? Have no idea what LNT means? READ THIS DOCUMENT!

If this is your first burn or 500th, take a few moments to read this lovingly crafted document. There are updated guidelines from the landowners on Caring for the Land, info for this year's Lost and Found, and overall Best Practices from your passionate LNT core leads.

NGL, it's a bit looong and we know your brain is already full of blinky lights but this is an integral topic for the looongevity of our event. This property is so beautiful, together we can keep it that way!

Art Cart Applications Due to the DMV June 25th

This year, Firefly is introducing a new core: the Department of Mutant Vehicles! The DMV is specifically responsible for motorized vehicles at the event which are operated as art pieces. If you intend to bring an art cart to Firefly this year, even if you think DMV knows about it, please submit THIS FORM by 6/25/24 to be permitted to run it at the event. Motorized vehicles with a functional role need not apply – only those whose role at the event is purely decoration and fun.

The Open Stage Needs YOU!

DID YOU KNOW there is a place in the woods where anyone can schedule whatever performance, education, antics they'd like to share? It is a full size stage with seating, somewhat covered from weather, with audio/video. We need all of you creative humans to show us what you've got! You can check it out here — SEE the schedule of events as they are added. SIGN-UP for time slots. We will post the full schedule before heading to the woods, and will post it at the stage as well.

Just the Tip by WendyWTF

NEW this year: The dude who has to clean up all your shit has requested NO TAPE RESIdoo-doo in the portapotties. No duct tape! No masking tape! No clear tape! Not even gaffer tape. **Use painter's tape** if you want to hang your propaganda.

OLD this year: Nothing goes in the portos except toilet paper and something that was once a part of you. No tampons, trash, baggies. No cat litter. No wet wipes or flushable wipes. Flushable wipes don't dissolve and they clog the vacuum. You are smart – you can figure out how to take your trash with you.
