Fireflies,

Now that the Ticketing process has settled in a little (and before the pre-registration finishes) we wanted to send out a note to announce, and to offer congratulations to the three projects who are being awarded Art Grants for Firefly's Tenth Anniversary, the Firefly Tin Grants. We received a number of excellent and intriguing submissions and the judging was difficult. The three $1000 grants are being awarded to the projects which best exemplified the needs of the three different venues where they will show. They will make their inaugural appearance at Artisan's Asylum as part of Somerville Open Studios May 5th & 6th.  Then they will take part in FIGMENT! Boston on the Rose Kennedy Greenway June 2nd & 3rd. Lastly, but certainly not least, they will be signature pieces located in the main Field at the Firefly Festival, our annual July 4th celebration in the woods.

In no particular order we're proud to announce:

Sonic Storyboard
by eHawk, Giles Hall and Michael Dewberry

Magnetosphere
by New American Public Art (Bevan Weissman, Dan Sternof Beyer, Kawandeep Virdee, Joey Asal and Brandon Stafford)

Powerlines
by Michael Dewberry

Soon you will be able to read descriptions of these, and other projects on our new website:

Congratulations again guys. The whole Firefly community of proud to have you all represent us as we begin to expand our reach and participatory art philosophy to the greater Boston-area. What you all do and represent is just too good for us to hoard it away in the woods for one measly event a year. We hope that you agree.
