What is Safety 3rd Weekend Getaway you ask? Well let me fill you in. It is a training/social
weekend for Firefly Medical, Rangers, Sanctuary and FAST (Fire Art
Safety Team) volunteers. TJ Kozma and Deanna Duffey will be hosting
this first ever event for Firefly volunteers.
The
location will be at our house in Scarborough, Maine. 15 minutes south
of Portland easily accessible by bus and train from Boston. We
have plenty of inside meeting/sleeping space in the barn, carriage house
and house if needed. Should be nice enough to be outside though. Plenty
of yard and forest space for camping and meeting. Bring yer tent!
We are still in the planing stage but it would go something like this:
Friday
May 16- Arrive Friday evening - informal- get settled in set up tent or
other inside location to sleep, maybe some social activity.
Saturday
May 17- Training day. - Breakfast, together team building activity for
everyone, Break up into volunteer groups. Everyone does their own team
training. Break for lunch. After lunch. Each group receives an
abbreviated training on each of the other groups. For Example Rangers
get an abbreviated training in Medical, Sanctuary and Fire teams
responsibilities, and how they work. After everyone rotates through
crosstraining. Then as a group radio training. Dinner. Bonfire, fun,
social stuffs.
Sunday
May 18 - - Q&A- brainstorming day- Breakfast- As a group. Ask a
Ranger, Ask a Medic, etc. Q& A time. Anything anyone ever wanted to
know about each department. time to ask. Department leads responding.
Also an open discussion on how we can work together as departments to
increase the safety at Firefly. Lunch,or snacks and clean up. Head home.
Its going to be an awesome opportunity to get involved, get trained and meet other Safety department Leads and volunteers.
There will be a small fee to attend of $20 this will go towards food for the weekend. Bring your own drinks.
