Do you want to build the Bug?

Newly-retired Bug Crew is soliciting interest to build the effigy for Firefly 2026. Send an email to bug-search@fireflyartscollective.org, along with a few short paragraphs with the following:
1) Your name and the names of anyone in your crew, and everyone’s expertise (we've found that a core crew of 4+ people is ideal)
2) Any previous experience you have with large art installations, especially burnable ones
3) A brief description of your vision for next year’s effigy (drawings, doodles, and diagrams welcome)

Submissions indicating interest will close on Monday, February 9. If you have any questions, or would like to talk through your ideas with the old crew, feel free to reach out!

*Some notes:

-Bug Build typically involves 4 on-site work weekends + time during early arrival and the event, but might involve more (or less) this year

-Plywood, synthetic fabric, and plastic/foam can’t be included in the burnable parts of the effigy
