1. Exodus: Help Wanted, Flexibility Offered!

Hi all! Many cores – especially Parking, Parking Shuttle, and GTFO – need more hands for Exodus! This year we’re offering a great benefit:

If you work an Exodus shift, you do not need to be off the land until 6 PM or, if shifts go late, 2 hours AFTER you get off your shift.

Please help make Exodus smooth for your fellow participants, and look forward to sailing out of the parking lots with no traffic! Contact exodus@fireflyartscollective.org with any questions.

2. Please Return Ticket if You’re Not Going

If you've decided you can't go, please return your ticket so that someone on the waitlist can take your place! The wait list is still 300 people deep. Go to http://tickets.fireflyartscollective.org to return your ticket for a reimbursement or to donate towards art.

Contact ticketing if you have any questions at tickets@fireflyartscollective.org

3. Off Site Parking: A Dream Come True .+:。(ノ・ω・)ノ

Firefly has grown from a smol lil forest romp to the truly amazing and growing community we have today. How do we do it when our land space is limited? The answer is that Fireflies are truly awesome people who take a little extra time to park off site and ensure our event can continue to exist at its current size.

This year, offsite parkers have more to look forward to than an awesome shuttle ride and that great feeling you get from participating in the community: one free trash bag AND one free recycling bag! That’s right: Every car who parks off site will be given a special trash & recycling bag, which you’ll deposit with the Parking team upon Exodus. ٩(●ᴗ●)۶

Questions? We're here to help! Reach out to parking@fireflyartscollective.org <3

4. Volunteers Needed for On-Call Logistical Sanctuary Roles

Firefly is the amazing event it is because of the innumerable ways people contribute their time, small and large, and we Sanctuary Co-Leads are so grateful for all of you signed up for shifts. I've heard quite a few people say a Sanctuary volunteer "saved my Firefly experience", or even "saved me".

To provide support for those volunteers, Sanctuary has the Logistics Supervisor role, but 11 of those shifts are not filled, and we need your help finding people for them. We hope you'll reach out to a friend who might be interested, perhaps that friend who loves helping behind the scenes but thought Sanctuary roles were only about supportive listening.

Logistics Supervisors will:

We are also still looking to fill 10 Subject Matter Expert shifts, and we are 8 shifts short from having the ideal of 2+ people on each 4hr Support shift. For more information on those roles or anything else about Sanctuary you can visit here. If you don't find the answer there please email us at sanctuary@fireflyartscollective.org

All the best, Sanctuary Co-Leads 2019

5. No Diapers in the Portos

In the interest of avoiding a repeat of last year's unpleasantness, please be advised that DIAPERS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THE PORTOS.

If you or some member of your camp uses diapers, you are required to remove them from the property yourself. It should be common knowledge to anyone who attends an overnight festival that the only items that go into the portos are single-ply toilet paper and anything that has made the one way journey through your body. Exceptions can be made for vomiting, but I wouldn't recommend putting your head in there. Buckets with lids are available at Home Depot.

More graphic explanations are available from the Firefly DPW at dpw@fireflyartscollective.com.

6. Firefly Temple Etiquette

Fireflies often leave objects and tokens in the temple, symbols or possessions of the past and of future intentions. Objects in the temple should be left undisturbed. The Temple Burn is a solemn and quiet event.

7. Check Out the Open Stage Schedule and ADD Your Own Awesomeness!

8. The Return of POWERPOINT CLUB

At Firefly this year, we'll again be coordinating an on-site version of an event we've been holding every month in Camberville: POWERPOINT CLUB!

Inspired by a Buzzfeed article, PowerPoint Club is an event where attendees give THREE MINUTE presentations on any topic they are passionate about. Three minutes is NOT a long time! It's super fun to try to convey everything you want in that amount of time, and nobody gets bored, unlike 99% of all PowerPoint presentations. It grasps your attention and is lots of fun. It's great for people who are afraid of public speaking because nobody expects it to be polished or anything.

Want to present? SIGN UP HERE: http://bit.ly/pptfirefly

WHEN/WHERE?

Lions Stage, 9pm Wednesday night (July 3). Thanks to the Lions for hosting!

THE RULES

  1. Presentations will be three minutes long, plus an additional two minutes for Q&A and anything else. We will keep to this schedule within one SECOND.
  2. Presentations can be anything you are passionate about.
  3. You must upload your PowerPoint at http://bit.ly/pptffupload no later than SATURDAY, JUNE 29 in either PPT or PDF format. Or you can use poster board instead of PowerPoint. Or you can choose to have no materials at all and just talk at us.
  4. You must sign up at http://bit.ly/pptfirefly to present. You don't need a topic yet. If we get more than 20 responses there will be a waitlist. We will also have some prior presentations on hand if you want to present someone else's slides which is usually hilarious fun.
