LATE BREAKING: MORE MONEY FOR ART! HIGHER GRANT TIERS!

BEX AND SKILLSHARE APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN!

STILL ACCEPTING TEMPLE AND TEA UNTIL 2/19.

STILL ACCEPTING CREATIVITY AND LEGACY UNTIL 3/5. ~*~

Firefly's Art Grant Core, with the generous support of the Firefly Festival Committee and the Firefly Board, are proud to announce a major increase in funding to art at Firefly.  This year we have more grants at more levels than ever (big and smol) so there's never been a better time to apply.

New funding changes:

Temple Grant: was $1000, now $2000

We are doubling the Temple Grant to enable more comprehensive funding for Temple artists. Reminder that Temple Submissions are due on Monday, Feb 19, 2018.

Anniversary Grants: was $1000, now $1000, $1500, or $2000

Anniversary Grants are also doubling, if your project warrants it! Anniversary Grants no longer require that the project also appear at FIGMENT Boston - we now have a $100 FIGMENT bonus that all funded projects are eligible for (see below for details). Reminder that Temple Submissions are due on Monday, Feb 19, 2018

Moonshot Grant (new!): $5000

Have you had an idea that seems like it's just too much?  Don't save your ambitions for the desert.  The Moonshot Grant is a special grant with no fixed deadline or application schedule.  Artists who have grand ambitions for Firefly art are welcome to propose their ideas to the Art Grant Core (grants@fireflyartscollective.org) and we'll work with you to realize your dream.

Smol Grants (new!): $40-99

Sometimes a big grant is too big.  Maybe you don't think of yourself as an artist (u r wrong) and the grant process seems too complicated. Perhaps your ambitions aren't large, they are... smol.  For you there is the Smol Grant.  This is a small-dollar grant with a simplified application process, and the review process will be more streamlined than the process for other Firefly Art Grants.  The Smol Grant is the perfect way to start getting involved with art at Firefly.

FIGMENT Bonus: +$100 for projects that show up at FIGMENT Boston

Firefly is proud to support FIGMENT Boston by providing extra funds to any project funded at $100 or more to help bring it to FIGMENT.  These funds are designed to help you transport your project to FIGMENT, make any repairs to damage incurred at Firefly, or replace consumables you need to make your project work.  More details coming later in the year.

Art Grant Core will be updating the website soon with information about the new funding levels and grant types.  None of this would be possible without the rich community around Firefly, so thank you!

NEW! Moonshot Grant [TBA]

The Creativity Grants (open!) are our primary grants, and are designed to fund creative new projects to be shared with our community during the Firefly event. Creativity grants are awarded in tiers of $150, $300, $500 and $700.

The Legacy Grants (open!) are provided to support existing projects which have been to Firefly in the past. Art can be exposed to many elements at Firefly — mud, rain, sun, and most of all, people — and this grant is designed to provide funding to help with wear and tear produced by this exposure. Legacy grants are awarded in tiers of $100 and $300.

The Tea/Anniversary Grants (open!) are intended to support projects of a larger and more ambitious scale than the typical Creativity Grant project.  Named for traditional wedding anniversary gifts, these grants celebrate Firefly's lasting commitment to art. These projects must be appropriately large in scale, spectacular, and suitable for presentation at a variety of venues. Anniversary grants are awarded in tiers of $1000, $1500, $2000.

The Temple Grant (open!) supports the creation of the Temple at Firefly Arts Festival each year. The Temple aims to satisfy both civic and spiritual needs by creating a revered gathering space at Firefly. While the Temple should be spiritual in a general sense (and true to the spirit of the event), it is not intended to be a religious symbol, and overtly religious tones should be avoided. The Temple is placed in the field, and provides a space for Fireflies to seek quiet contemplation and introspection at the event. It is of the utmost importance that the Temple defines a physical (and emotional) space; that said, it does not have to be a traditional shelter or building. It is traditional for the Temple to serve as a place for participants to leave offerings, and the structure will be burned on the final evening of the event. A single Temple Grant is awarded for up to $2000.

The BEX Grants (now open!) are for art that already appeared either at a regional burn event or Burning Man, and showcases the local flavor of its origin. Grant money is intended to be applied to minor maintenance / improvements and shipping costs to Vermont. BEX Grants are awarded for up to $1000. These grants are not open for submission yet.

The Skillshare Grants (now open!) are a special type of grant, debuted in 2016, and allow artists to broaden or deepen their skillsets by funding specific classes or training in an artistic field.  These grants are not open for submission yet.

The Smol Grants are new for 2018! A Smol Grant is our lowest grant level, between $40 and $99, for artists whose ideas are big but whose budget is smol. There will be a limited quantity of these grants, and more detail about how they work is coming soon!

The Moonshot Grant is new for 2018! This is a grant for up to $5000, for large-scale art. Email grants@fireflyartscollective.org to inquire and apply!
