We are your Firefly Ranger Co-Leads asking for your help to train & sign up for Ranger shifts—especially later in the Event this year. Rangering is lots of fun. You get to walk around the event mostly doing nothing (in a useful way tho!), yet sometimes you get a chance to really help people in meaningful & impactful ways. Please consider taking one of the next seven Ranger trainings being offered (four basic, and three Khaki.) Five trainings are over Zoom before the event, and two are in-person at the event itself. Sign up here for Ranger training! <https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSffNYOgT3sjMGXMGq26Ve1yWHHrPk537IfkeZ8wZX2ALrdA3w/viewform> Curious about what we do? You can look at the Firefly Ranger wiki <https://rangers.fireflyartscollective.org/wiki/Main_Page>. It reads complicated but it’s not. We make sure you’re well-trained in advance with real skills you can use across your whole life—and at Firefly. Please train & take Ranger shifts. We need our Ranger core to reflect the entire community—you!! Choose a training: Basic if you’re new, Khaki if you are ready to take shift lead. Thx!! Any questions, please contact: rangers@fireflycollective.org. -Quandary & Selkie, Firefly Ranger Co-Leads ------------------------------ Open Stage Act Submissions Hello Fireflies and happy Monday, this is Stage Core speaking! This year, as all years, we are having an Open Stage, which means anyone, whoever you may be, can sign up to perform any wacky, wonderful, whimsical, or wonky performance you would like. All you have to do is fill out the Open Stage submission form <https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeYKT2jN3-ZWUwnijI5D6psiEq_t3otgnCKmJhCm5jYCknYVA/viewform?usp=sf_link> with your act name, preferred performance time and day, and email so we can send you updates. This form will CLOSE June 30, but don’t wait! The sooner you fill it out, the more likely you are to get your preferred slot. Any sign-ups after June 30 will not be printed on the lineup, HOWEVER you can write-in a last minute act for empty slots if you change your mind, as we will hang a big printed line-up near the stage. This is an OPEN stage, so share this with your friends, anybody can perform, even if they are not of this world!!! Can’t wait to see what magical and crazy performances you guys come up with! Email us with any questions: stage@fireflycollective.org. -Jeli and Chris ------------------------------ Firefly Art Cart Applications Due 6/25! This is a friendly reminder that applications to the DMV for art carts will be closing June 25! The DMV cluster is specifically responsible for motorized vehicles which are operated as art pieces. If you intend to bring an art cart to Firefly this year, even if you think DMV knows about it, please submit FIREFLY 2025 ART CART APPLICATION <https://forms.gle/XUn95FVrVKeQgqL78> by 6/25 to be permitted to run it at the event. Motorized vehicles with a functional role need not apply via this form – only those whose role at the event is purely decoration and fun. Contact DMV lead Gwen at gwen@fireflyartscollective.org if you have questions. ------------------------------ What/Where/When event submission is open! Hi Fireflies! Some of you may have already noticed this, but event submission for this year is in fact open! We received a lot of positive feedback on the dust app last year, so this year we’re using the dust web interface for event submissions! Follow this link to submit WWW events <https://firefly-2025.dust.events/>. All events will appear on the Google Calendar <https://calendar.google.com/calendar/embed?src=l7sve162251li59l4nkdcs9bk4%40group.calendar.google.com&ctz=America%2FNew_York> and the WWW Web App at events.fireflyartscollective.org – no need to use dust to view events, only to submit them. There will also be a printer-friendly version available. Deadline Please try to submit events before Friday, June 27 at noon so that we can prepare the printer-friendly version (and hopefully signage at the event). Events submitted after that deadline will still be visible on dust, and we will do our best to add them to the web app and calendar as well, but it’d be convenient if you could get them done before then. FAQsQ: Do I need to submit events anywhere else? A: Nope! The exception is for events hosted at the Open Stage <https://www.fireflyartscollective.org/art-at-firefly/open-stage/> and events hosted at the Bug, which should be submitted to both dust and the separate sign-up sheets that will be made available for those venues. There will be future announcements specifically regarding events at those locations. For other events, please use the dust form linked above! Q: Should I also submit my theme camp, art, or art cart to dust? A: Please do! In particular, if you would like events to be attached to your camp on the dust app, your camp needs to be registered there! However, unlike events, dust is not the official registration form for these things. Hopefully you have already registered your camp and art for placement, as the deadline for that was June 9! Separately, you can also list your theme camp <https://www.fireflyartscollective.org/what-is-firefly/theme-camps/theme-camp-listing-request/> to be displayed on the main Firefly site <https://www.fireflyartscollective.org/what-is-firefly/theme-camps/>. And don’t forget to register your Art Cart with the DMV <https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScVJf0Qz2DRirjRl6oGCoJkBXvCchXu8Fvbzt4gg215kKG7xg/viewform> . Q: If I’m not a camp lead, can I still submit events to dust? A: If your event isn’t at a camp, go for it! If your event is at a camp, check with the camp lead! Only camp leads and dust admins can officially associate an event with a link to their camp on dust, so it’s helpful for camp leads to submit events held at their camp when possible. However, the Communications team can change the location of events upon request, so if it’s necessary or helpful for a non-lead to register the event on dust, just put the camp name in and we can make the link official on our end. Got any other questions? Drop us a line at communications@fireflyartscollective.org. We’re excited to see what fabulous events you all put on in the woods! ------------------------------ Leave Nice Trees! LNT isn’t just about being responsible for your trash, it’s also about respecting the beautiful woods we call home for a week and this includes during Work Weekends. If it isn’t approved by DPW and it involves a leaf blower, weed whacker, shovel, or mattock: don’t do it! - Leaf litter helps prevent muddy messes, only rake areas for fire safety. - Tents can go on top of ferns, do not cut or pull them up. Do not use soap in the stream – not even biodegradable! - Wash off sunscreen, bug spray and other products before going in. - Keep pee and grey water 100 feet from any natural water source. - Properly dispose of TP and do not poop in the woods!! - Use biodegradable soap in general and filter grey water before scattering in the woods. Food scraps are MOOP and will attract critters to your campsite. - If you find adorable newts or other critters, don’t touch them! - Oils and other chemicals on your hands can be harmful to them. - If they need to relocate, use a stick or leaf. Email LNT@fireflyartscollective.org with your questions. We are happy to inform you on best LNT practices! ------------------------------ Composting at Firefly! For the second year, there will be on-site composting! This is still a pilot program and we need you to make this a successful long term offering. A trench has been dug in the manure pile (mmmm) between Upper Parking and the barn. If this starts to get overfilled do not add more to it! What can be Composted: YES: - fruit + veggie scraps (remove stickers!) - Cooked leftover food (vegetarian only) - Coffee grounds + paper filters - Paper tea bags (no staples) - Crushed eggshells NO: - Meat - Fish - Bones - Used TP (ewwww) If you want to compost, bring a bucket with a lid or fill out the form to reserve a bucket <https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeC-zMy5JVKtWSafsj_TQNItPk7bCBwpkvftxBLBSoKsbgbIQ/viewform?usp=sharing&ouid=111532133774406036944> (supplies limited). Contact lnt@fireflyartscollective.org with questions! ------------------------------ Raising Money for Ice Hole! TL,DR: Contribute to the fund for the ice vendor at the Ice Hole Fund Donation Link <https://www.paypal.com/pool/9fs1CRkrCy?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAYnJpZBExZE5sM0ZzR3Y0OFVveGcxcwEenPkvZ9IDNmRker1Oecjtn4Ydo3sa7YEme39xnD3_zZiws6WrNfnqfHO_Oks_aem_6vUy22OgW9qhiQV-3dx5lQ> ! Ice hole is back! We are, once again, hiring an ice vendor to bring fresh, cold, local ice cubes to Firefly to keep your coolers fresh and your cocktails icy cold. We're not selling ice at the event. At Firefly, we raise money for the ice vendor in advance, buy as much ice as we can, and then we all share in the delight. Do you want ice for refilling your coolers at Firefly this year? Help make this system work by donating to the ice fund here: Ice Hole Fund Donation Link <https://www.paypal.com/pool/9fs1CRkrCy?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAYnJpZBExZE5sM0ZzR3Y0OFVveGcxcwEenPkvZ9IDNmRker1Oecjtn4Ydo3sa7YEme39xnD3_zZiws6WrNfnqfHO_Oks_aem_6vUy22OgW9qhiQV-3dx5lQ> . ------------------------------ Call for 100# Propane Tank Orders TL;DR: Email dca@fireflyartscollective.org to join a propane group order. If your camp, art, or ecstatic experience wants moar propane, let me know how many 100# tanks you want ASAP. I will be placing an order this week for delivery. -Pyronica, dca@fireflyartscollective.org ------------------------------ Portos Locations TL,DR: More portos in more places this year, with handwashing stations—they will be cleaned daily! There will be Portos at 6 locations around the event this year, and 5 of these will have handwashing stations next to them. All Portos will be serviced during the event, which means a service tech and truck will be on-site, including into the woods, between 7-8am Wed-Sun, and additionally between 5-6pm on Friday and Saturday evening. The vendor plans to use the same tech through the week, feel free to thank her for her service if the spirit moves you. ------------------------------ Baldrick’s Cunning Plan TL,DR; To join in on a community-building game at the event, fill the Baldrick's Cunning Plan form <https://tally.so/r/mR6Voj> out before the 30th! Do you like “Where's Waldo?” 🔎 Do you like making unpredictable memories? 🎪 Do you like participating in interactive games that take on a life of their own? 🪄 Do you like a bit of mystery? 🧐 Do you like all that but also want to engage at your own comfort level and don't want to over-commit? 😶🌫️ If so, you will want to hear about “Baldrick’s Cunning Plan!” 🤌 Things to note: Don't ask about the plan, we don't know who's listening. 🤐 Don't focus on the plan too much, plans change which is all part of the plan. ✅ Don't plan on learning about the plan until you sign up for the plan, which you can do below. 👇 So here's the plan: You will bring a totem and must keep an eye out for one another during the festival to partake in a passive game of community building. 🏩 Fill the Baldrick's Cunning Plan form <https://tally.so/r/mR6Voj> out before the 30th and await the next cunning phase! In case anyone asks, it wasn't myself, Baldrick, who is spearheading this. Prosecute Dan Nad.
