Sanctuary is a calm and serene place where Fireflies can come to ground themselves and to reconnect with their intentions for the event. This year, the Sanctuary team has picked the theme of *community*, and we ask for your help in creating a space where Fireflies can go to be surrounded by physical reminders of the love that we all have for one another by contributing to our community shrine. You can participate in two ways: 1. Bring an *offering* for the shrine! This offering can be any non-hazardous object that reminds you of a time when you have felt connected to Firefly and the community. You can bring your offerings to Sanctuary during Firefly, or you can contact us before the event to arrange a dropoff in either Somerville or Bethel. 2. E-submit a *piece of text* that resonates for you! We will bind these e-submissions into a zine that will be held at Sanctuary and distributed around Firefly. *** Digital submissions are due by midnight on Wednesday, June 28! *** More information: https://safety.fireflyartscollective.org/2023/06/sanctuary E-submissions: https://safety.fireflyartscollective.org/sanctuary_shrine.html Work Weekend #3 (June 23-25) We had an even more successful and productive second Work Weekend (despite all the rain on Saturday), and are well positioned to be able to check off all the remaining things this upcoming *third* Work Weekend! If you have not signed up yet, follow the link to the _Work Weekend Sign-up (and Waiver)_ <https://docs.google.com/forms/u/4/d/e/1FAIpQLScT-DO2otRzb3UJ1FjwFhcJ0duMKK0a2ru-mThfZT-gZNh6bQ/viewform>. *IMPORTANT NOTES:* • Larger theme camps may bring and begin to set up shade structures/infrastructure or to fly tarps over their area. Folks with large art projects who have already confirmed their placement may bring art up and stage it for assembly. **Folks cannot leave behind any personal camping items at the end of the Work Weekend.**** **Neither set up, nor under a tarp burrito - it all has to go back with you! • Folks coming up to scout campsites - **Look UP** - notify work weekend coordinators if you see any widowmakers (broken branches) hanging over your campsite! We will do our best to bring them down safely, and if we can’t we will put caution tape around the area. • **Do not terraform your campsite!** You may use a rake to clear branches and sticks away from where you plan to place your tents/structures, but you can’t turn your campsite into a construction project. If whatever you’re planning requires shovels and mattocks, you’re doing too much. Consider this your *CEASE & DESIST* notification. Bringing leaf blowers is strongly discouraged - if you blow all of the leaf litter away from paths and your campsite you would be leaving just dirt, which with a little bit of rain turns into slippery mud. • **Do not cut down any trees/saplings** - even if they are in your way - anything that is growing vertically is to remain vertical. Anything that has already fallen down and is in your way can be cut down to smaller pieces and moved out of the way. Sharp dead branches on the pines that are hanging at head level or below may be trimmed to avoid accidents. • **Do not make new firepits** - there are established firepits in certain areas. If a fire is started in any of the firepits, it must be monitored by at least one person at all times, and there must be a bucket of water nearby. *Questions? Email **_workweekends@fireflyartscollective.org_** * Parking & GTFO need more volunteers! Parking & GTFO volunteers have the crucially important job of managing traffic so *Early Arrival *and *Exodus* run smoothly and as efficiently as they possibly can. **Traffic slows down for everybody** if Parking and GTFO volunteer shifts are not all filled. *PERK:** If you work an Exodus shift, you do not need to be off the land until 6 PM *(or, if shifts go late, until 2 hours after you get off shift).* *Why rush to leave on Sunday, when instead, you can take your time and help Exodus flow like room temperature coconut butter? Follow the links to sign up for _GTFO_ <https://volunteer.fireflyartscollective.org/team/374> & _Parking_ <https://volunteer.fireflyartscollective.org/team/363> *Questions? Email** **_parking@fireflyartscollective.org_**, **_gtfo@fireflyartscollective.org_** * Reminder: Art Transportation Requests Are you bringing art which you will need help getting up the hill? DPW is happy to offer assistance with Polarises and trailers. Fill out this *_Art Transport Request Form_* <https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeoyZC-NKxHIS21b6CX1zilUc0fAv_kClNSMROByuL8bhCWzg/viewform> to let us know approximately when you would need the pickup, where from (Art Truck, Lower Parking, or Upper Parking) and provide some info about what you need transported. *The request form will close on Tuesday, June 27th.* *Questions? Email **_dpw@fireflyartscollective.org_* Stay for Late Crew! (while spoons last) Do you wish you could stay in the woods for just one more day before you have to rejoin the “default world”? You totally can! Each year *DPW and LNT* make sure the land is as near to “as we found it” as we can get - and *we need all the help we can get from *YOU** to make it so*.* Please consider volunteering for a *Late Crew* shift and help us out. Many hands indeed do make light work. Follow the links to sign up for _DPW_ <https://volunteer.fireflyartscollective.org/team/359> and _LNT_ <https://volunteer.fireflyartscollective.org/team/360>. *Questions?
