Work Weekend Signup Information and Links

Hello happy Fireflies!!! As many of you know, it takes a lot of work for Firefly to happen both before and during the event. Firefly is getting closer by the day and it's almost time to do the necessary tasks to prepare for the event. There are 3 Firefly Work Weekends this year. The Work Weekend Dates and links for signing up are below. Please do not arrive before 6pm on Friday night on each Work Weekend. You **must* *sign up ahead of time to attend a Work Weekend, and will need to check in upon arrival. If you are not signed up ahead of time, you will be asked to leave the site. The number of Work Weekend volunteer spots is limited, so please make sure you sign up early All work and no play isn't any fun, but please keep in mind that everyone's priority during the Work Weekends is to accomplish necessary tasks and complete required projects to make Firefly happen. Some of this year’s projects & tasks include*:* determining locations for various event structures, preliminary site mapping, clearing and marking trails, digging holes, cutting and gathering firewood, road & trail trenching, parking lot preparation, and gathering sticks for the creation of The Bug. The following information is required for signup: - Name - Email Address - Ride/Car Situation (for ride share) - Theme Camp, Art Installation, and/or Core Affiliation - Skills and/or Expertise - Tools bringing for self and/or to share - Specific projects and/or tasks you would like to work on *Work Weekend #1 - Theme Camp & Art Installation Placement and Work Weekend * *Friday June 15th - Sunday June 17th* * * In addition to Work Weekend tasks required for the infrastructure of the event, placement for Theme Camps and Art Installations will take place this weekend starting Saturday afternoon and continuing on Sunday. If you are planning an Art Installation or Theme Camp, please make sure that at least one representative from your camp can attend this Work Weekend. Once your spot is chosen, marked, and cleared through placement co-leaders and mapping, report to a Work Weekend co-leader for assignment and/or direction to Cores for tasks. During this Work Weekend, the only work done for individual camps will be Saturday evening after other tasks and Sunday if there is no need for help with general/Core tasks or after those tasks have been completed. Minimal Theme Camp preparation, such as clearing space and gathering wood will be allowed after general Work Weekend tasks are completed. During this Work Weekend, the only work done for individual camps will be Saturday evening after other tasks and Sunday if there is no need for help with general/Core tasks or after those tasks have been completed. Theme Camp setup such as clearing space/paths, gathering firewood or unloading firewood delivered from off-site, flying tarps, and building domes or Quonset structures necessary for infrastructure will be allowed this weekend. The June 9th & 10th Infrastructure Work Weekend has been cancelled. The remaining 3 Work Weekends will still be happening as planned. I have listed the dates and descriptions below as a reminder. An announcement with more information about the tasks and projects that need to be completed during the Work Weekends and information about sign-up including links for sign-up will be sent out by this Wednesday. Stay tuned!! -Firefly Work Weekend #1 - Theme Camp & Art Installation Placement and Work Weekend Friday June 15th - Sunday June 17th Placement for Theme Camps and Art Installations will take place this weekend as well as other Work Weekend tasks. If you are planning an Art Installation or Theme Camp, please make sure that at least one representative from your camp can attend this Work Weekend. Only placement, not preparation for Theme Camps and Art Installations will take place this weekend. Please be prepared to work on other Work Weekend tasks before and after Placement. Work Weekend #2 - Work Weekend, minimal Theme Camp preparation Work Weekend Friday June 22nd - Sunday June 24th This Work Weekend will focus mainly on completing Work Weekend tasks. Minimal Theme Camp preparation, such as clearing space and gathering wood will be allowed after general Work Weekend tasks are completed.
