Ice Hole is happening!
Donate to the ice fund here: https://www.paypal.com/pools/c/8UJ6AzGj4w
Do you want to get ice from a local ice vendor to refill your cooler during
firefly? Here's how it works:
Donate money, in any amount, toward the ice fund. I'll call the ice vendor
and make an order, and then I'll take the money we raise and buy as much
ice as we can get and have it delivered to Firefly on each day of the
festival.
During Firefly, when the ice vendor shows up, if you're around, you can
help unload and stack the ice, and then carry some bags of ice up the hill
and spread the word about the ice delivery so we can get it all into
coolers before it melts.
The Ice Hole is a collaborative project that everyone can participate in:
by donating money, distributing ice to neighbors, bringing coolers to store
it in, making and sharing fresh food and frosty beverages, and making sure
there's plenty of ice all over the mountain for when people need it. So
when you see the Ice Hole fill up, grab a bag or two, spread the word, pass
it around, make sure it gets used, and we'll get more the next day.
Let me know in the comments here what days of the festival you think we
should get the ice delivered, and what times would be ideal, and how much
ice you think we should get on each day.
With love from my frosty lair,
Ice Ice Abby

Moop or other land-stewardship concerns, and then the author says "I talked

in the Glowbe to the effect of: don't do this! We have a process and a
hierarchy for determining if something is ok to bring to Firefly, and
haranguing Kirk personally is *not it*. There are many reasons this is a
bad idea, including: - Kirk is not the only relevant landowner- He is not
familiar with our insurance and safety situations and policies- He is but
one (very kind) man, and is likely to get annoyed by repeated requests from

*The Details: *Over the years, the Firefly Arts Collective (FAC) has been proud to provide grant support to Firefly artists to enable them to express and fulfill their varied creative visions. These grants are intended to support and promote radically-expressive, community-based, interactive and/or collaborative projects that help define and shape the creative core of the event.
Art is a central part of Firefly, and the event wouldn't be the same without the wonderful pieces that have been brought to Vermont over the years. Bringing art is a great way to add a piece of yourself to the event and contribute/participate in a meaningful way.
We are now accepting applications for our *final* grant category, Smol Grants!
These grants are available between $40 and $149, and are meant to help cover expenses associated with projects of a small (or “smol”) size or scope. We love smol projects! Small projects fill the woods with art and give an opportunity to people who don’t have the time or resources to commit to something bigger. They are particularly designed to encourage creation by new participants and participants who haven’t brought art to Firefly before, but everyone is welcome to apply!
These grants are evaluated on a rolling basis, from now until June 20th, aka two weeks before the event.

We are looking for motivated participants to add to the Firefly Arts
Collective Board of Directors to expand the size of our team and fill
positions vacated over the past few years. The Board is responsible for the
financial and legal obligations of Firefly Arts Collective Inc. The Board
is also responsible for planning the long term development and growth of
the organization. Board members are expected to attend monthly meetings
(currently virtual) and contribute several hours of work per week on a
year-round basis.
We also are specifically looking for a candidate to take on the role of
Treasurer, to coordinate bookkeeping, reporting, and financial planning.
Keep this in mind as you work to identify candidates for outreach and
encouragement.
Through the new Board candidate process we wish to further increase the
diversity of our organization, both in terms of demographics, skills, and
ideas, to best represent both our Firefly community and the surrounding
artistic and cultural communities from which we draw. We welcome
suggestions of participants to include in this process, and greatly
appreciate community support in outreach and encouragement.
Other qualities we’re looking for in Board candidates include the ability
to execute projects from beginning to end, ability to participate in
consensus decision-making (and the cooperation that entails), showing
initiative on new projects, being actively involved in the Firefly
community, and having attended at least one Firefly in the past.
We are also specifically seeking a participant to serve as Treasurer. The
Treasurer prepares and files all Firefly tax documents, publishes an annual
itemized list of income and expenditures, reimburses board-approved
expenses, and is responsible for Firefly’s financial account management.
The Treasurer serves on the Board Finance Committee to collaborate on
decisions regarding Firefly’s ongoing management of finances.
To learn more about the specific responsibilities of Firefly Board Members,
please review our Bylaws
<https://www.fireflyartscollective.org/firefly-arts-collective/bylaws/>. [
https://www.fireflyartscollective.org/firefly-arts-collective/bylaws/]
If you have interest in contributing to Firefly at this organizational
level, please fill out this Application for Board Membership
<https://forms.gle/Pptp4uhVqew9VzTe7>. [https://forms.gle/Pptp4uhVqew9VzTe7]
Responses to this application will be shared to the Firefly Planning team,
which consists of Core, Cluster, and Committee leads in good standing (past
and present) for voting and feedback. If there are any responses you wish
to be kept confidential to the current Board of Directors, please note this
in responses or email us at board(a)fireflyartscollective.org.
After you fill out the form we will reply to confirm receipt and may get
back to you with some follow-up questions. We may invite you to attend a
meeting to chat more about your responses and let you learn more about how
we operate, or work with us during the 2023 event operations to learn in
the field. Once we've had a chance to review all responses, votes, and
Planning Team feedback, we will solicit public comment on both final
candidates and currently sitting board members.
The Firefly Board of Directors is relatively small to keep discussion and
consensus-based decision making practical. Any candidates who we are unable
to invite to join the Board will be considered as future vacancies arise,
and we will also send out this request for expression of interest on a
regular basis.
We're very excited to get new participants involved with the Firefly Board!
Beyond the yearly Firefly camping event we would like to expand the
year-round activities of Firefly Arts Collective. Firefly continues to
collaborate with Somerville Open Studios and Figment Boston to bring more
community art to our cities, and we are exploring other opportunities to
engage more deeply with our larger home communities in Massachusetts and
Vermont. We look forward to hearing from motivated participants with the
time and energy to help expand and organize our community!
Sincerely,
The Firefly Arts Collective Board of Directors
