Volunteer for Firefly 2025 Core Lead! Make friends, make art, make Firefly!

Help make Firefly 2025 happen! Volunteer for Core Lead! Now’s the time. It takes community effort to make Firefly happen. Would you like to help make Firefly 2025 happen? We have several openings for cluster and core leads! Tl;dr: _just fill out this form_ <https://forms.gle/FZ311faTMqbTY1W56> if you’re at all interested, and I’ll take care of the rest! We’re looking for core leads for these cores and probably more: • *Communications* - work with our existing Comms team to make sure announcements like this one get out to the community! A good role for someone who’s on top of checking their notifications. • *Late Crew *- lead the team that puts our infrastructure away so we can have Firefly again in 2026! Good for experienced Fireflies. • *Stage *- manage the Stage schedule and setup! • *Placement *- help the Placement team send timely emails! • *Coffee *- make sure the Cafe is equipped, set up, and taken down! And we’re looking for cluster leads for: • *Art Cluster *- work with Owen to coordinate the Art Grant, Stage, Bug, Placement, Signage, and Map cores. • *Event Ops *- learn the ropes from Stever and Aster as they coordinate the Officer of the Day, Rangers, First Aid, Sound, Radio, Fire, Perimeter, and DMV cores. • *Service Cluster *- work with Tab to coordinate the Accessibility, Coffee, Sanctuary, and Gnomes cores. • *Volunteer Coordinator* - work with me, Presley, by learning what I do in case I get hit by a bus and, ideally, throwing events for volunteers. *How to apply:* _Just fill out this form!_ <https://forms.gle/FZ311faTMqbTY1W56> If you know what role(s) you’re interested in, there’s a spot to say which. Creativity Grants Are Open AND Introducing the Dennis Zografos Memorial Music & Tech Grant

Over the years, the Firefly Arts Collective (FAC) has been proud to provide grant support to Firefly artists to enable them to express and fulfill their varied creative visions. These grants are intended to support and promote radically-expressive, community-based, interactive and/or collaborative projects that help define and shape the creative core of the event. Art is a central part of Firefly, and the event wouldn't be the same without the wonderful pieces that have been brought to Vermont over the years. Bringing art is a great way to add a piece of yourself to the event and contribute/participate in a meaningful way. Round 1 of Creativity Grants Are Now Open! We are now accepting applications for the first round of our primary grant category, the Creativity Grant! This grant is intended for all your ideas for new art - everything from traditional art like sculpture, to immersive spaces, to silly little games. This year we are increasing the cap on Creativity Grants, meaning that they are now available in tiers from $150 all the way up to $3000. Introducing the Dennis Zografos Memorial Music & Tech Grant For 2025, we are also introducing The Dennis Zografos Memorial Music & Tech Grant. This is a special $1000 supplementary grant awarded annually to a Creativity Grant proposal which showcases music or technology. It’s funded by the surviving family of Dennis Zografos (or “DZog” for short). Dennis passed away in the summer of 2023 at the age of 35. Throughout his time with us, Dennis maintained a dedicated but laid-back spirit, was kind and open-minded, and, not least of all, was really fun to be around! In recognition of how important Firefly and its community was to his life, his surviving family are funding the Dennis Zografos Memorial Music & Tech Grant, which is awarded at the discretion of the Firefly Art Grant Cluster. This grant will be offered as a special supplementary award for an approved Creativity Grant, adding an additional $1000 to the amount granted to the original proposal. This may even push the total grant well above the usual cap for Creativity Grants! The application is the same as a normal Creativity Grant, but you will need to indicate your interest in applying for the grant on the Grant Portal, and include a paragraph describing how you believe your project will showcase music and technology at the burn. New Director and Reminder: Call for New Board Candidates for Firefly Arts Collective

Dear Fireflies, Thank you for your feedback over the past month! We're pleased to announce the addition of Ollie Shonaldmann to the Firefly Arts Collective Board of Directors. Ollie joins our seven current directors: * Tristan Brown * Jon Evans * Jered Floyd * Iva Gishin * Carly Nix * Peter Salomone * Dan Snyder As a reminder, w e are looking for additional motivated participants to add to the Firefly Arts Collective Board of Directors to expand the size of our team and allow for turnover while continuing to meet our business requirements. The Board is responsible for the financial and legal obligations of Firefly Arts Collective Inc. The Board is also responsible for planning the long term development and growth of the organization. Board members are expected to attend monthly meetings (in person in Somerville, MA or virtually) and contribute several hours of work per week on a year-round basis. Through the new Board candidate process we wish to further increase the diversity of our organization, both in terms of demographics, skills, and ideas, to best represent both our Firefly community and the surrounding artistic and cultural communities from which we draw. We welcome suggestions of participants to include in this process, and greatly appreciate community support in outreach and encouragement. Temple Grants 2025 now open!

The Firefly 2025 Art Grants season has officially begun! The Temple Grant is accepting submissions starting *today*: Temple Grant: now up to $3000 (up from $2000 last year) The Temple Grant supports the creation of the Temple at Firefly Arts Festival each year. The Temple aims to satisfy both civic and spiritual needs by creating a revered gathering space at Firefly. While the Temple should be spiritual in a general sense (and true to the spirit of the event), it is not intended to be a religious symbol, and overtly religious tones should be avoided. The Temple is placed in the field, and provides a space for Fireflies to seek quiet contemplation and introspection at the event. It is of the utmost importance that the Temple defines a physical (and emotional) space; that said, it does not have to be a traditional shelter or building. It is traditional for the Temple to serve as a place for participants to leave offerings, and the structure will be burned on the final evening of the event. A single Temple Grant is awarded for up to $3000. Hi, Fireflies! I know it’s the off season, but I’m looking for a very special person to fill a new role: Newbie Liaison. If you’re interested in: • Preserving the culture that makes Firefly so magical • Making sure everyone knows how to treat the land • Helping first-time Fireflies learn how to survive and thrive at what might be their first-ever burn Then you might be this special person! The Newbie Liaison will be a part of the Exec Cluster and Festcomm. Unclaimed Lost and Found will be donated or given away after July 26th. The Firefly LNT team won't be mailing stuff, so if you are not near a porch pick-up spot see if a friend or community member would be willing to pick your Lost & Found item up and mail it to you. If there is a bunch of Lost and Found bound for one geographic area, we will *try* to get a porch for porch pick up in that area, but no promises on that. If your item is not in here, please comment on this thread about the thing you’re missing. On a final note, y’all please label your stuff! All of the items in our Lost and Found are not labeled.
