Learn about Firefly, the different cores, and how to volunteer. There will be a buffet of light fare and a cash bar for beverage service. Question 1. Do you know of an accessible space in Boston for a ~20 person training? I am working on scheduling one Sanctuary training in the Boston Area in May and one in June, to supplement the trainings at SFTYrd and at Firefly. I'm looking for accessible locations that can fit around 20 people. I have some options but am hoping to find the most accessible space possible. Question 2. Do you know of a training date that will be in conflict with another important event/date? With this many people it will be impossible to find the perfect dates, but I at least know to avoid Porchfest weekend and other holidays like Memorial Day. Do you know of any other dates to avoid? Hello, Fireflies! Firefly Art Grant season is rolling right along! While the Early Application deadline has passed for Creativity Grants, you can still apply during the second round of consideration until Sunday night, March 17. In addition, two more art grants are open for submissions: Burner Exchange Grants (BEX Grants) <https://www.fireflyartscollective.org/participate/art-at-firefly/art-grants…> Legacy Grants <https://www.fireflyartscollective.org/participate/art-at-firefly/art-grants…>The BEX Grants are for art that has already appeared either at a regional burn event or Burning Man and showcases the local flavor of its origin. Creativity Grant First Round Submissions Now Due Sunday Night!

Let us help fund your art! The first round of Firefly Creativity Art Grants <https://www.fireflyartscollective.org/participate/art-at-firefly/art-grants…> was going to be due this Friday Feb. 15, but we thought you might want one more weekend to submit, so now the deadline is Sunday night (2/17) at midnight! This is your chance to get your submission reviewed first and possibly funded much earlier than usual. With a small number of submissions so far, your proposal will get a lot more attention. When the second round happens and we have 40 applications to wade through, it will be much harder to stand out. Even if you don’t get accepted now, you can easily reapply for the Second Round. You have literally nothing to lose by applying early! Hey folks! Firefly is in desperate need of Art Grant Reviewers for the 2019 Grant Cycle. Only 4 people have signed up so far; we need about 15 to make the process happen smoothly. If you've never done it before, this is an awesome way to give back to Firefly and help make Art Grants happen! You also get to read lots of super cool grant proposals, and have a direct hand in what art is funded by FAC this year. If you HAVE done this before, please consider signing up again for 2019! We are instituting this new process to give artists more time to create art, or the opportunity to refine their design and further address committee concerns. The job requires a lot of reading and talking as we typically receive over 40 applications for Creativity Grants, a smaller pool of Moonshot and Temple Grants, and one more pool of Legacy + BEX + Skillshare grants. We will have 2 weeks to make our decisions for the two sets of grants, with two meetings per grant. We strongly encourage volunteers to come to as many blocks of meetings as they can, but if you can only come to one set that's OK too. This is a commitment of about 10-20 hours; 6-8 hours of reading and cogitating and at least two (up to eight) 2-hour meetings where we hash it all out. Once the application deadline has passed, the committee has about a week to read the applications over and fill out a review sheet to decide how well each application met the criteria. We review the applications for Thoughtfulness, Creativity, and Feasibility (explained in detail here <https://www.fireflyartscollective.org/participate/art-at-firefly/art-grants/> and during the meetings). This is followed by the aforementioned meetings where we compare notes and formulate follow-up questions for all applicants.
