We have a couple of missives for you all: The Temple Grant Application Deadline Approaches This is a reminder that the deadline for Temple Grant applications is coming up! Your last chance to submit your proposals is the night of 2/12 (the portal closes at 2am). There isn't much time left, so if you have a vision, please share it! You’ll need to come to both of them, and budget enough time each week for you to read through all the grants and place votes ahead of the meetings so that we can discuss it together. The Firefly 2023 Creativity Grant Submissions Are Now Open!

Over the years, the Firefly Arts Collective (FAC) has been proud to provide grant support to Firefly artists to enable them to express and fulfill their varied creative visions. These grants are intended to support and promote radically-expressive, community-based, interactive and/or collaborative projects that help define and shape the creative core of the event. Art is a central part of Firefly, and the event wouldn't be the same without the wonderful pieces that have been brought to Vermont over the years. Bringing art is a great way to add a piece of yourself to the event and contribute/participate in a meaningful way. We are now accepting applications for our primary grant category, the Creativity Grant! This grant is intended for all your ideas for new art - everything from traditional art like sculpture, to immersive spaces, to silly little games. Call for 2023 Firefly Art Grant Reviewers

Interested in helping bring art to Firefly? Want to help choose what kind of projects are funded for the event? We've got a new round of grant applications coming in, which means we need another round of committee members! This is call out to any of you who might be interested in helping to review the proposals for Firefly's Art Grants this year! For each grant, we are looking for approx 12 folks who are interested in helping to make this aspect of Firefly successful. *Requirements:* - You must have attended at least 1 (one) previous Firefly in order to join and participate in the selection committee. - You must not be applying for a 2023 Firefly Art Grant. - You must sign the Art Grant Committee Code of Ethics. - Commit to reading and recording your thoughts on up to 20 applications, which may take 4-6 hours of brain time. - There are multiple blocks available; you can sign up for any number of blocks, but for each block you must attend both dates. *Available Blocks:* Temple Grant Meetings: - Thursday, Feb 16 at 7:30 PM - Thursday, Feb 23 at 7:30 PM Creativity (Early Application): - Thursday, Mar 9 at 7:30 PM - Thursday, Mar 16 at 7:30 PM Creativity (Second Round): - Thursday, Apr 6 at 7:30 PM - Thursday, Apr 13 at 7:30 PM Burner Exchange, Legacy: - Thursday, May 4 at 7:30 PM - Thursday, May 11 at 7:30 PM *The Intense Details:*The job requires a lot of reading and talking as we typically receive a number of applications for each grant. We will have 2 meetings in which we will make these decisions. These meetings generally run for about 2 hours, and will take place over Zoom. This is a commitment of about 8-12 hours; 6-8 hours of reading and cogitating and two 2-hour meetings where we hash it all out. You will have a few days between the deadline for submissions and the first meeting in order to read the applications over and fill out a review sheet to decide how well each application met the criteria. We review the applications for Thoughtfulness, Creativity, and Feasibility (explained in detail here and during the meetings). This is followed by the aforementioned meetings where we compare notes and formulate follow-up questions for all applicants. We wait a week to give time for artists to get their replies back to us, then we meet again and make our final decisions. Temple grant submissions are open

The Firefly 2023 Art Grants season has officially begun! The Temple Grant is accepting submissions starting today: Temple Grant: up to $2000 The Temple Grant supports the creation of the Temple at Firefly Arts Festival each year. The Temple aims to satisfy both civic and spiritual needs by creating a revered gathering space at Firefly. While the Temple should be spiritual in a general sense (and true to the spirit of the event), it is not intended to be a religious symbol, and overtly religious tones should be avoided. The Temple is placed in the field, and provides a space for Fireflies to seek quiet contemplation and introspection at the event. It is of the utmost importance that the Temple defines a physical (and emotional) space; that said, it does not have to be a traditional shelter or building. It is traditional for the Temple to serve as a place for participants to leave offerings, and the structure will be burned on the final evening of the event. Gathering new Firefly Communications volunteers

Had a great time at Firefly? Looking to get involved? Good at writing, web stuff, or organizing information? The Communications Committee could use a few more people to make sure our Fireflies and potential new Fireflies know what’s up and how to participate. We’re a small but pivotal group doing work throughout the year, but we’re not gonna lie, it gets a bit busy leading up to the event! Our job is to organize, design and publish all forms of Firefly Arts Collective’s outbound communication to our community, including: -the Glowbe email newsletter -other email announcements as needed -Updating Fireflyartscollective.org website (in Wordpress) -Facebook organization official Page (Moderating the Group page is a different, participant-driven effort) We’re looking for people who can: -Write clearly and amusingly -Organize information and project manage -Do graphic design for any needed page graphics, infographics, etc -Update Wordpress websites -Maintain Wordpress websites We meet online, and coordinate via email and Slack, for the most part. The official responsibilities of the Communications Committee include: • Identifying appropriate forms of communication to the community • Working with the Technology Committee to deploy new communication channels • Providing a mechanism for the organization to present information to our community across available channels • Responding to informational inquiries and summarizing feedback to the Board • Ensuring communications channels have current information: Keeping on top of what communication is needed and making sure it's delivered • Creating a consistent look across all forms of communication If you'd like to have a pivotal role in informing our community and making the next Firefly run smoothly, Write to [ mailto:communications@fireflyartscollective.org | communications(a)fireflyartscollective.org ] with brief background and statement of interest, and tell us something about yourself!
