Hi Fireflies! Just a final reminder that Creativity Grant and Legacy Grant applications are due *this Saturday, February 28, by midnight*. Grants are being handled this year through the Art Grants web portal - please submit your grants here: http://grants.fireflyartscollective.org/ You can read more details on Creativity Grants, intended to support and promote radically-expressive, community-based, interactive and/or collaborative projects and available in $150, $300, $500, and $700 tiers, here: http://fireflyartscollective.org/art-grants/creativity-grants/ You can read more details on Legacy Grants, available to *returning* projects that need funding for minor repairs and modifications, here: http://fireflyartscollective.org/art-grants/legacy-grants/ *Art Grants Committee:* If you're not submitting your own grant application, but would still like to help make these grants happen, we still need a couple more people to join the Creativity Grants committee! *1. *You must have attended at least 1 (one) previous Firefly in order to join and participate in this most august of selection committees. *2. *You must not be applying for a 2015 Art Grant. *3. *You must be available for both of the meeting discussion dates, taking place at Velir in Davis Square. These will be beer and dinner-fueled and may be lively at times: * Thursday March 5, 7 to 10 pm * Thursday March 12, 7 to 10 pm *4. *Commit to reading and recording your thoughts on over 40 applications, which may take 4 - 6 hours of brain time. *The Intense Details:* The job requires a lot of reading and talking, as we typically receive over 35+ applications for Creativity Grants. We will have 2 meetings over the course of 2 weeks to make decisions about which grants to fund. This is a commitment of about 10 hours; 4-6 hours of reading and cogitating and two 2-hour meetings where we hash it all out. Once the application deadline has passed, the committee has about a week to read the applications over and fill out a review sheet to decide how well each application met the criteria. We review the applications for Thoughtfulness, Creativity, and Feasibility. This is followed by an evening dinner and beer/wine-fueled meeting where we compare notes and see if we have any follow-up questions for the applicants (we *always* have follow-up questions). We wait a week to give time for artists to get their replies back to us, then we meet again and make our final decisions. Hello Fireflies, Thanks for sharing your feedback about the prospective Conduct Committee members via email. We would like to announce the first official Conduct Committee members! The Conduct Committee will host an Open House to introduce ourselves, present our review process, and have a community discussion. *You are invited to the Conduct Committee Open House, to be held on Sunday, March 1st, 2015 at 4:00 pm at Velir Studios, 212 Elm Street, Davis Square, Somerville MA.* We will set up a service for folks who would like to join virtually, and will try to record the audio for sharing post-event. FIREFLY 2015: CREATIVITY AND LEGACY GRANT APPLICATIONS DUE IN TWO WEEKS! ლ(╹◡╹ლ) ლ(╹◡╹ლ) ლ(╹◡╹ლ) Over the years, the Firefly Arts Collective, (FAC), has been proud to provide grant support to Firefly artists to enable them to express and fulfill their varied creative visions. These grants are intended to support and promote radically-expressive, community-based, interactive and/or collaborative projects that help define and shape the creative core of the event. Art is a central part of Firefly, and the event wouldn't be the same without the wonderful pieces that have been brought to Bethel over the years. Bringing art is a great way to add a piece of yourself to the event and contribute/participate in a meaningful way. Art grants are intended to support and promote radically-expressive, community-based, interactive and/or collaborative projects that help define and shape the creative core of the event. Creativity Grants are available in $150, $300, $500, and $700 tiers. Legacy Grants are available to *returning* projects that need funding for minor repairs and modifications. Happy Valentine's Day <3 <3 <3 We love you all so much, *we decided to extend the deadline for Lace and Temple Grants to this coming Monday, 2/16, at midnight. *This will be the absolute deadline to apply for these grants, so please submit applications as soon as you can! Firefly News: Event Dates, Board Members, and More!

Fireflies, We're well into 2015, and planning for this year's Firefly Arts Collective festival is well underway. We have exciting news to share! DATES FOR FIREFLY 2015: JUNE 30 - JULY 5 The news you've all been waiting for: Firefly 2015 will be held from Tuesday, June 30 through Sunday, July 5. Holding a 6-day event was a great success last year and we've continued it into this year. Mark your calendars! Tickets for Firefly 2015 will be available in early March, via a similar lottery process as last year. NEW BOARD MEMBERS Following up on our request for feedback in December, we've added three new members to the Firefly Board of Directors. Heather Panic, Kendra Pugh, and Drew Van Zandt have joined us for a lucky 13 set of board members. As always, we welcome feedback on the operation and future of Firefly Arts Collective at board(a)fireflyartscollective.org . DONATIONS TO FIREFLY ARTS COLLECTIVE Your ticket purchases for our annual festival fund the production of the event, our year-round planning, and most importantly funding for art at Firefly, Somerville Open Studios, FIGMENT Boston and beyond. Over the past nine years, Firefly has spent nearly $78,000 on direct and indirect support for the arts both at Firefly and in Boston, and nearly a quarter of Firefly's budget has gone to fund this art. We've introduced two new ways you can support Firefly Arts Collective financially beyond participating in our festival. First, we've added a "Donate" button to our website, which allows you to make a tax-deductible donation to Firefly via our payment processor WePay.
